Return of Electronic Waste (WEEE)
Last updated: 2026-06-03
Why separate collection matters
Electrical and electronic equipment — including fuel cell systems and their batteries — must not be disposed of with household waste. Separate collection protects the environment and recovers valuable materials, in line with the EU WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU), the EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542) and Finland's producer-responsibility rules under the Waste Act.
The crossed-out wheeled bin
The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on a product or its packaging means it must be collected separately at end of life, not thrown in general waste.
Remove batteries first
Where batteries or accumulators can be removed safely, please separate them and hand them in at the appropriate battery collection point.
